A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah.

Thus says Our God to the anointed one, Cyrus,

whom Our God has taken by the right hand

to subdue nations

and strip the loins of monarchs,

forcing doors open before Cyrus

and leaving the gates unbarred.

For the sake of Leah and Rachel and Jacob,

of Israel, my chosen ones,

I have called you by your name,

conferring a title though you do not know me.

I am the Most High, and there is no other,

there is no God besides me.

It is I who arm you, though you know me not,

that nations may know from the rising to the setting of

the sun that, apart from me, all is nothing.

I am Your God, there is no other.

Tell of God’s glory among the nations,

tell God’s marvels to every people.

Our God made the heavens.

Bring out the offering, bear it before God.

Worship Our God in the sacred courts,

tremble before Our God all the earth!

Say among the nations,

“The Most High is our Rock!”

Firm has Our God made the world, and unshakable;

Our God will judge each nation with strict justice.
