A reading from the first letter of Paul to the Corinthians.

I received from God what I passed on to you, namely, that Our Savior Jesus Christ on the night of betrayal took bread, gave thanks, and broke it. saying, “This is my body, which is for you.  Do this as a memorial to me.”  In the same way, after supper, he took the cup saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood.  Whenever you drink it, do it as a memorial of me.”  Every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of Christ until the second coming.
