FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME — Year A

*Alternate* First Reading: Zechariah 9:9

A reading from the book of Zechariah.

Rejoice in heart and soul, daughter of Zion!
Shout with gladness, daughter of Jerusalem!
Look! Your ruler comes to you: Victorious and triumphant, humble,
Riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

The Word of God recorded in the book of Zechariah.

FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME — Year A

*Alternate* Psalm: Psalm 145 from Psalms for Praying by Nan C. Merrill

My soul yearns for You,
Eternal Flame of Love, longing to reconnect to the Great Mystery!
Every day I will bless You as I follow the Voice of truth.
Great are You, who call us to childlike wonder, to the healing balm of forgiveness.
Each generation must learn anew the efficacy of silence, the wisdom of turning
inward,
That your Light might be their guide to holiness, and your Love nurture them
toward wholeness.
Divine Light shines in those who live in Love.
I shall uphold all who are burdened with fear, and raise up all who call to Me.
