DESCRIPTION:The Liturgy Team offers two opportunities to be in small groups to discuss key points from Maya Sciarretta’s paper on our community. As a Grinnell College student\, Maya visited DMIEC in Spring 2025 and wrote an analysis of DMIEC’s rituals and practices.  The gatherings will be informal times to listen to her impressions of our community and to revisit how our faith community puts All Are Welcome into action. These will not be meetings for goal-setting or looking for outcomes — it’s about accepting Maya’s gift to us and reflecting on it together. \nWe encourage all to read Maya’s paper before our discussions.  Maya’s paper is available here. To begin the discussion\, Lit Team pulled out some of Maya’s key points\, which will be emailed in advance. Please also feel free to bring your own reflections or questions to share and discuss when we gather. \nAll are welcome to attend regardless of whether you indicated a preference for this Wednesday in-person event and/or the Friday February 27th evening Zoom session.

DESCRIPTION:Our DMIEC community works to address food insecurity issues in the Des Moines metro area via a special collection for the DMARC Emergency Food Pantries on the fourth Sunday of every month. \nOn November 3rd\, the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) Food Pantry Network assisted 2\,494 unique individuals – setting a single-day record for the most people assisted. That was the busiest day on record in the 50-year history of the network of Des Moines metro pantries and the start of an extremely challenging period for our neighbors living without support from SNAP. Of the people assisted yesterday\, 1 in 3 were currently enrolled in SNAP. DESCRIPTION:Our DMIEC community works to address food insecurity issues in the Des Moines metro area via a special collection for the DMARC Emergency Food Pantries on the fourth Sunday of every month. \nOn November 3rd\, the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) Food Pantry Network assisted 2\,494 unique individuals – setting a single-day record for the most people assisted. This is the busiest day on record in the 50-year history of the network of Des Moines metro pantries and the start of an extremely challenging period for our neighbors living without support from SNAP. Of the people assisted yesterday\, 1 in 3 were currently enrolled in SNAP. The collection will help with remodeling and maintenance projects for the Dingman House. In a kitchen sized for a single family\, the staff and volunteers prepare roughly 600-750 pounds of hot food each week. The guests also have access to canned and packaged food\, blankets\, clothing\, and personal hygiene items. \nChecks can be written either to “DMIEC” with “CWH remodeling” in the memo line OR to the “Catholic Worker House Fund\,” with “CWH remodeling” on the memo line.
