As a Grinnell College student\, Maya visited DMIEC in Spring 2025 and wrote an analysis of DMIEC’s rituals and practices.  The gatherings will be informal times to listen to her impressions of our community and to revisit how our faith community puts All Are Welcome into action. These will not be meetings for goal-setting or looking for outcomes — it’s about accepting Maya’s gift to us and reflecting on it together. \nWe encourage all to read Maya’s paper before our discussions.  Maya’s paper is available here. That was the busiest day on record in the 50-year history of the network of Des Moines metro pantries and the start of an extremely challenging period for our neighbors living without support from SNAP. Of the people assisted yesterday\, 1 in 3 were currently enrolled in SNAP.
