Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A First Reading (no Responsorial Psalm)

TWENTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME — Year A

First Reading: Ezekiel 33:7-9

A reading from the book of the prophet Ezekiel.

You, mere mortal, I have appointed sentry for the nation of Israel: when you hear me say anything, you will warn them for me.  If I say to one who is wicked, “Wretch, you are to die,” and you do not speak out to dissuade the wicked one from evil ways, the wicked one will die because of sin, but I will hold you responsible for the death.  But if you warn and try to dissuade the evildoer, and that one refuses to repent, then the evildoer will die because of sin, but you will save yourself.

The Word of God recorded in the book of the prophet Ezekiel.
