**Alternate** First Reading: Writings from Richard Rohr, Julian of Norwich, and Eckart Tolle

Writings of Richard Rohr, Julian of Norwich, and Eckhart Tolle

How do we move out of Disorder and into Reorder? Richard Rohr calls this the Second Half of Life, or Resurrection, Recovery, Salvation, the Nonviolent Life, the Third Way, or just Enlightenment.  Rohr says “We have failed to reveal to the world more than a pittance of the great Good News that is the Gospel. God always fills in the gaps by grace and mercy and this will never change. There seems to be no utopian age. How do we lead people consciously and lovingly into a necessary and conscious Disorder—which is part of what I think John Lewis meant by ‘Good Trouble’ and the Hebrew prophets by Exile.”

Julian of Norwich says:

  • All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”
  • Faith is nothing else but a right understanding of our being – trusting and allowing things to be; A right understanding that we are in God and God, whom we do not see, is in us.
  • A spirituality built on “goodness” is a spirituality resulting in joy and love, for goodness elicits both joy and love.  The three feed on one another.

“We were made for Love,” declares Julian of Norwich.

And from Eckhart Tolle:

“Wisdom comes with the ability to be still. Just look and just listen. No more is needed. Being still, looking, and listening activates the non-conceptual intelligence within you. Let stillness direct your words and actions.”
