SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT — Year B
**Alternate** Second Reading: A Prayer by Jack Jezreel
O Holy One
Author of all that is, and all that is human,
Bless your creation
With newness.
Knock us silly with wisdom.
Give us a bath in healing oil and lotion and bubbles
So that the callouses and scars all over and inside our bodies
Become smooth and soft and gentled,
Which we will need to embrace the newness.
And what might that newness be?
With, first, alien-like strangeness
And, then, with a knowing nod,
It will dawn on us
That we only have one thing to do today.
Just one thing that really matters.
Just one thing that will bring joy and tickle us to the marrow.
Just one thing that will make justice roll like a river.
Just one thing that always makes the dead rise and the living give praise.
Just one thing that will unite and heal.
It will finally dawn on us.
O Holy One
Author of all that is, and that is human.
Bless your creation with newness.
