Palm Sunday Year A Second Reading

PALM SUNDAY — Year A

Second Reading: Philippians 2:5-11

A reading from the letter of Paul to the Philippians.

Your attitude must be the same as Christ’s:

Christ, though in the image of God,

did not deem equality with God

something to be clung to.

But, rather, was emptied

and took the form of a slave,

being born in human likeness.

Jesus was known to be of the human condition,

and was thus humbled – obediently

accepting death, even death on a cross!

Because of this, God highly exalted Christ

and gave to Jesus the name above every other name,

so that at the name of Jesus every knee must bend

in the heavens, on the earth, and under the earth,

and every tongue proclaim to the glory of God:

JESUS CHRIST REIGNS SUPREME!

The Word of God recorded in the letter of Paul to the Philippians.
