SUMMARY:First Sunday Collection - Nazareth Sisters of the Annunciation
DESCRIPTION:Our First Sunday collection for June will benefit the Nazareth Sisters of the Annunciation\, which is an order of over 200 committed nuns based in Meru\, Kenya. They currently have three sisters living in Des Moines working in nursing at MercyOne Medical Center. Through these sisters\, the Des Moines community learned of the amazing work of the order serving the poorest of the poor in Kenya. They currently operate seven primary schools\, six medical clinics\, two hospitals\, and two rehabilitation centers in Kenya. Money is being raised to assist the sisters in their education and health care ministries and to help them care for a growing number of elderly sisters who need assistance after retiring from active ministry. SUMMARY:Annual Meeting - Community Assembly of Registered Members\, including information about the 2026 Council Election (In Person and via Zoom)
DESCRIPTION:DMIEC’s Annual Meeting of the Community Assembly (i.e.\, registered DMIEC members) will be held on Sunday\, June 28\, 2026 immediately following our prayer service. The Council\, committees\, and teams will provide brief updates for the membership at the meeting. \nAll registered DMIEC members are eligible to run for the DMIEC Community Council and to vote in the Council election.  Electronic voting in the 2026 annual Council election will end at 5:00 p.m. Saturday\, June 27 (the day before the annual meeting).  Details about electronic voting will be separately provided to all duly-registered DMIEC members sufficiently in advance of the deadline. Members may cast written ballots at the June 28th annual Community Assembly meeting\, if they’ve not already cast their ballots electronically.  If the number of candidates matches the number of open Council seats\, the election may take place via voice affirmation during the meeting. \nNote: Non-Members\, who currently have Volunteer account status and who are interested in becoming registered\, voting Members\, should email that request to dmiec11@gmail.com. \n\nServing on the Council is a great way to gain a better understanding of all that DMIEC does and to share your talents for the benefit of our faith community. The By-Laws provide that a Council member must rotate off after two consecutive full terms. Any registered member of DMIEC is eligible to be a candidate for the Council. Any DMIEC registered member interested in running for the Council should contact Council Secretary Donna Dressel no later than 5:00 p.m. on Sunday\, June 1\, 2026.  Candidates will be announced to the membership at least two weeks in advance of the annual Community Assembly meeting.
