SUMMARY:First Sunday Collection - Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity
DESCRIPTION:Our First Sunday collection recipient for March will be Greater Des Moines Habit for Humanity. \nMission: Seeking to put God’s love into action\, Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes\, communities\, and hope. \nVision: A world where everyone has a decent place to live. \nIn 2021\, GDM Habitat directly served 285 families in Polk\, Dallas\, and Jasper counties through affordable homeownership\, home repairs\, and financial counseling. Learn more at gdmhabitat.org. \nOur collection will support a Panel Build in DMIEC’s parking lot on Thursday\, May 26. This event will engage approximately 50 people from several different churches. While building connections with one another\, the volunteers will build the interior and exterior wall panels\nof a Habitat home in about seven hours.  (Signup link for the Panel Build coming soon.) \nCHECKS SHOULD BE MAILED TO: \nDMIEC\, P.O. Box 30065\, Des Moines\, IA  50310 \nChecks can be written either to “GDM Habitat for Humanity” (mention DMIEC in the memo line) or to “DMIEC” with “First Sunday” in the memo line.  \nWhile we would prefer that all checks be mailed to DMIEC\, if you mail your check directly to the organization\, please inform Ed Arnold of the amount\, if you feel comfortable\, so the Social Justice Committee can get an accurate count of donations.  Thank you for your generosity. \n
