DESCRIPTION:IMPACT Community Action Partnership\, Inc. (“IMPACT”)\, DMIEC’s neighbor to the east\, will be our January First Sunday collection recipient.  *** NOTE: Due to the New Year’s holiday\, the collection will be held Sunday\, January 9.*** \nIMPACT is committed to reducing the barriers and burdens of poverty experienced by families\, whether lifelong Iowans or new immigrants\, through IMPACT’s own programming or by creating connections to other community resources. Donations will help fund the organization’s THRIVE program\, which assists families directly with essential items\, which include car repair\, housing costs\, furnishings\, etc.   For more information\, please go to the www.impactcap.org website. \nCHECKS SHOULD BE MAILED TO: \nDMIEC\, P.O. Box 30065\, Des Moines\, IA  50310 \nChecks can be written either to “IMPACT” (mention DMIEC in the memo line) or to “DMIEC” with “First Sunday” in the memo line.  \nWhile we would prefer that all checks be mailed to DMIEC\, if you mail your check directly to the organization\, please inform Ed Arnold of the amount\, if you feel comfortable\, so the Social Justice Committee can get an accurate count of donations.  Thank you for your generosity. \n

DESCRIPTION:Every third Sunday is DMARC Emergency Food Pantries Sunday. \nBefore the pandemic began\, DMARC pantries were already operating at a 10% increase over 2019 levels.  As the economic crisis surrounding the pandemic has worsened\, pantry use has grown exponentially. \nTo send donation checks directly to DMARC.  Please write checks to “DMARC” and mail to DMARC\, 1435 Mulberry Street\, Des Moines\, IA 50309.
