SUMMARY:First Sunday Collection: Hurricane Relief for Honduras
DESCRIPTION:Due to the Independence Day holiday\, July’s First Sunday collection will be July 11 and will benefit hurricane relief in Honduras through the Dubuque Sisters of St Francis. \nSister Pat Farrell will be joining us from Honduras where she has ministered for several years. In November 2020 Honduras was struck with two hurricanes that caused mudslides destroying or damaging many homes. This in turn has caused many to flee from their homeland to head toward the United States hoping to find a better life. Sr Pat will share how our donations will be used to help the people be able to stay in Honduras. \nCHECKS SHOULD BE MAILED TO:     DMIEC\, P.O. Box 30065\, Des Moines\, IA  50310 \nChecks can be written either to “Sisters of St Francis” or “DMIEC” with “First Sunday” in the memo line.  We would prefer that all checks be mailed to DMIEC. If you mail your check directly to the organization\, please put “Honduras Relief” in the memo line and inform Ed Arnold of the amount\, if you feel comfortable\, so the Social Justice Committee can get an accurate count of donations.

DESCRIPTION:Every third Sunday is DMARC Emergency Food Pantries Sunday.  \nBefore the pandemic began\, DMARC pantries were already operating at a 10% increase over 2019 levels.  As the economic crisis surrounding the pandemic has worsened\, pantry use has grown exponentially. \nAs this third Sunday is also an in-person prayer service at DMIEC\, you may either mail your donations directly to DMARC or put it in one of the specially marked envelopes available that morning at DMIEC. \nTo send donation checks directly to DMARC.  Please write checks to “DMARC” and mail to DMARC\, 1435 Mulberry Street\, Des Moines\, IA 50309.
