DESCRIPTION:Our August 2 First Sunday Collection recipient is Primary Health Care Homeless Support Services \nPrimary Health Care\, Inc. (PHC) is a community health center located in Polk\, Story and Marshall counties. PHC’s mission is to provide health care and supportive services to people to\nimprove their quality of life. With an emphasis on dignity and respect\, the Homeless Support Services Department provides housing services and meets basic needs for people who are\nvulnerable and experiencing homelessness. PHC serves as the Centralized Intake for Polk County and assists over 2\,000 households per year. The department also provides case\nmanagement to over 300 households. The funds donated to PHC will assist clients with obtaining permanent housing by providing financial assistance towards rent\, deposit or\nutilities. DESCRIPTION:Every third Sunday is DMARC Emergency Food Pantries Sunday.  \nBefore the pandemic began\, DMARC pantries were already operating at a 10% increase over 2019 levels.  As the economic crisis surrounding the pandemic has worsened\, pantry use has grown exponentially.  March showed a 15% increase over last year\, with at least one-fifth of those clients using the pantry for the first time. \nPlease send donation checks directly to DMARC.  Please write checks to “DMARC” and mail to DMARC\, 1435 Mulberry Street\, Des Moines\, IA 50309.
