DESCRIPTION:COLLECTION RECIPIENT on AUGUST 7:  FRIENDS OF IOWA WOMEN PRISONERS \nFriends of Iowa Women Prisoners is an organization established in 1986 to work for systemic changes and improved conditions at the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women in Mitchellville.  They advocate for long-term change that promotes and fosters healthy lives.  One way they do this is through a Scholarship Fund established in 2001 to enable women to earn college credit. These funds help cover tuition\, books\, and supplies. Our First Sunday contributions will be applied to this fund.\nFor more information\, go to http://www.friendsofiowawomenprisoners.org. \nCHECKS SHOULD BE MAILED TO:  DMIEC\, P.O. Box 30065\, Des Moines\, IA  50310 \nChecks can be written either to “Friends of Iowa Women Prisoners” or “DMIEC” with “First Sunday” in the memo line.  \nWe would prefer that all checks be mailed to DMIEC. If you mail your check directly to the organization\, please inform Ed Arnold of the amount\, if you feel comfortable\, so the Social Justice Committee can get an accurate count of donations.
